So sorry to hear of your loss. Having lost a parent during the holiday season myself, I think it's one of the toughest things to deal with in life. My heart goes out to you, and hope you find renewed vigor in living your life to make your father proud.

Mel, this is a beautiful, touching song -- thanks for sharing with us. Without doubt your father was very proud of the wonderful woman you have become. He will live on through your smiles and laughs for years to come. Love you lots GF.

I was thinking of your mom and dad just a couple of days before I learned your father had passed. I hadn't know he was ill - in fact I hadn't seen him since the late 70's when I worked with both of them at SJCLO (the first time I met him, your mom was VERY pregnant with you!)

Suffice it to say that I loved your father. He was a wonderful musician and conductor and a great man. I did three shows with him and remember him vividly - a very professional guy - I knew I was in good hands. (Not as extraverted as your mom perhaps, but very warm and supportive.) And a hug from him was a gift.

Melanie, while I have never met you (other than as a toddler), I want to express my deep sympathy for your loss. I want you to know that he was special enough for those of us who only knew him for a short time to have felt a sense of loss as well. I knew him only for a couple of years but he was an important part of my life at a very important time for me. He made an impression on me - strong enough to have made me think of him only a couple of weeks ago - 30 years after seeing him last. I know he is in the presence of God, whole and well, and that you will see him again one fine day.

He was such a nice guy. When I think of him, the memories make me smile. I remember accompanying the choir that he was in, down south. He always came up to me during the breaks, said hello and made some comment about how much fun he was having. He loved life, God, music, and you, Melanie. His face lit up when he talked about you. He was so happy that I finally got to meet you! Great man, he was. I'm so fortunate to have met him.
Lots of love, to you and your family.
